Did you know that you can edit text in WhatsApp? It's a bit limited, it's not like in Microsoft Word but at least it offers 4 options to improve a bit or highlight a word or phrase that we want to send.

The four options that WhatsApp allows at the moment (beginning of 2020) are the following:

1. Text in Italic (or italics as it is known in some cases).
PTo italicize or italicize your word or phrase, place an “underscore” [ _ ] on both sides of the text, as follows: _text_

You can try copying and pasting into your WhatsApp to send the following line to a contact:

Hello! I am testing the _italic_ text in WhatsApp

2. Text in Bold font
To put your word or phrase in bold font (“bold” in English), place an asterisk on both sides of the text, as follows:

*text*

You can try copying and pasting into your WhatsApp to send the following line to a contact:

Hello! I am testing the *bold* text in WhatsApp

3. Strikethrough ( Strikethrough )
To use a strikethrough word or strikethrough your message, place a tilde or tilde (which is like a wavy tilde, like the one we use over the letter ñ) on both sides of the text, so the following way:

~text~

Here is an illustration of how it appears on a computer keyboard and on a phone

You can try copying and pasting into your WhatsApp to send the following line to a contact:

Hello! I'm testing the ~strikethrough~ text on WhatsApp

4. monospace
To display your word or phrase in monospace, place three 'backspace keys' on both sides of the text (on a computer keyboard it appears on the same key -usually-; see previous photo and on a phone keyboard it appears next to the "tilde or viguilla"; see previous photo, as follows:

“`text“`

You can try copying and pasting into your WhatsApp to send the following line to a contact:

Hello! I am testing the text “`monospace“` in WhatsApp

To make it easier and as another alternative:

on android, you can touch and hold the text you are typing> More> and choose between bold font, italics or italics, strikethrough and monospace.

As follows:

On iPhone, you can touch and hold the text you're typing > BIU > and choose between bold, italic, and strikethrough.

We hope it helps you to continue sharing your messages on WhatsApp.
