On our way as designers of Sites and Web Marketing, we come across Companies that fear establishing a business relationship with the simple excuse of "we already have a Facebook page", especially those small businesses and some medium-sized businesses that have not done well. doing business in the traditional way and who do not see an investment in a Website as a priority, which stops them from taking their Companies to the next level.

In addition to the above, some other 'cons' for why only a Facebook page (or Fanpage) is insufficient in a Web marketing strategy:

• Building on Facebook alone is like building on a rented house.. The conditions and the rules of the game can change and all the effort of what was built could be lost. Remember that "the place" belongs to someone else.
• Facebook's policies change from time to time.. Some time ago almost all the fans (or followers) of your page could see your posts, today only a small group, maybe a 5%... to have more reach you must pay Facebook! This is necessary but in a comprehensive marketing strategy.
• Your fans are not your customers or prospects. You cannot export a list of all followers, their Emails to send them your posts. In this Facebook has "the upper hand".
• If you pay advertising to Facebook, you can not capture the information of potential customers and prospects. With your Website if you can! And this is key to building your prospect database; the same if you use other means, such as buying bulk mail.
• If you use only Facebook, you will have to use an email with gmail, hotmail or another free service. You are not only losing the opportunity to consolidate your brand with your own domain (YourCompany.com) but you are not showing your Business as taking business seriously! Also, every time you send an email or share your email, you are promoting the Google or Microsoft brand and NOT yours!
• And very important: Google does not accept an advertising strategy of adwords with a Facebook site.
